For those of us born too late to have experienced it ourselves, and for everybody else who missed it as it actually happened, Diz’N’Bird At Carnegie Hall documents an awesome concert performance by a partnership whose influence on the history of jazz is inescapable and profound, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Diz’N’Bird At Carnegie Hall provides fifteen selections from a Carnegie.

Feb 16,  · 'Embraceable You' and 'Hot House' from those sessions were released on the French bootleg Royal Jazz 'Charlie Parker - More Unissued', vol. 1, a long time ago. Then the various sides were issued on several of the Philology Bird's Eyes volumes. I'll be waiting for one of those Spanish labels to issue the full set in proper form.

May 12, - These are LP/album covers of Bird's (mostly) "live" performances + a few European studio dates. Often these are a club's radio broadcasts or "remotes" also private wire recordings, reel-to-reel and the like. (BTW: I have more to Pin but have not downloaded all the photos I have. Stand by.). I, on the other hand, found this album to be not-too-helpful. I AM a harsh grader, but The Best Of the Bird is made up of un-labeled takes at clubs. In other words: THIS IS NOT IN THE OMNIBOOK. For Improvers looking for bird to learn from, find another. If you don't care about that, and just want a cheap CD of the Genius of Parker, get it.3/5(2).

(I already had, for instance, that second essential Parker concert, the Carnegie Hall concert, on the 4-CD box set, "Charlie Parker: The Complete Live Performances on Savoy," which also contains all of the eighteen Roost recordings on disc two of "Chasin the Bird")/5(12).

This double LP, the second of three volumes, continues the documentation of Parker's Royal Roost broadcasts, performances that allowed his quintet (with trumpeter Kenny Dorham, pianist Al Haig, bassist Tommy Potter and usually drummer Max Roach) to stretch out on such songs as "Scrapple from the Apple," "Hot House," "Barbados," "Groovin' High" and "Oop Bop Sh'Bam.".

Sep 18,  · At some point I had a 5-CD set of Charlie Parker CDs ("A Studio Chronicle"). I wasn't super into "old" jazz back then, so I listened to them once or twice and then gave them to my girlfriend. Now, 10 years later, I am on a huge jazz kick, and have been reading over and over about Charlie Parker in various Miles Davis books, so I am itching to.
